Week 4 Highlights

Week four started off with a solid game between the Menstruaters and Broom Broom Pow. The green brooms of doom managed to tally first in both periods, but the Menstruators came back twice and forced overtime, where Dave Bloom notched his second goal and the game winner.

The second game saw the shorthanded Yellow Snowmen struggle against an overpowering Smurfs in a Blender. The Smurfs managed nine goals, almost half by stud center Kasey Kirby. Luke Streng, Tom “My Stick Brings All the Boys to the Yard” Zohlen, Brad Meder and Mike Levy also tallied for the Smurfs. In the second period, the Snowmen answered back with some physical play and the wily David Zarneke took advantage of a Smurf miscue to bury a goal in the final minutes of the game.

After one week of amazing broomball action, the standings are:

2. Smurfs in a Blender (W:3, T:0, L:1, P:6, GD:+9)
3. Broom Broom Pow (W:1, T:1, L:2, P:3, GD:-2)
4. Yellow Snowmen (W:0, T:1, L:3, P:1, GD:-13)

Here’s the schedule for week five, with goalie, ref and scorekeeper assignments. As stated above, due to the weather-induced cancellation on 2/10, all week 5 games will be played on 2/17:
