New Skeeball leagues are starting in Ballston this Spring. Games will play Tuesday nights at Carpool (near the Ballston and VA Square metro stations). Plus, it's just $30 to register for you early birds.

You know what we need more of in life? Skeeball! You know we need to learn more about online? Skeeball! You know what game does not have enough online articles about it? Skeeball! Yes, the answer is always Skeeball.

Skeeball is potentially one of the greatest games ever created. It is similar to bowling, but on a much smaller scale. Even if you are not athletic (like me) you can play Skeeball like a champ. Skeeball machines are typically located in all arcades. It is an especially popular game at amusement parks and boardwalks.

The premise of the game is simple. You put a quarter in the slot, then a group of balls the size of a baseball roll out. You simply roll the balls one by one, similar to bowling, and you try to get each ball in a hole. Each hole is worth a specific amount of points depending on its location. The amount is anything from 10 points to 100 points.

Skeeball is an extremely addictive game since it is so simple. It always seems like the next roll will be "the big win" which is why you keep pumping the quarters into the machine. People of all ages play this game. Who needs to gamble with the slots in Atlantic City when you walk down the boardwalk and play Skeeball instead?

DC Social Kickball Constitution Registration Now Open!

Kickballers and DC Social Sports Players:

The DC Social Kickball Constitution Division Board is pleased to announce that registration for the Spring 2012 Season is now officially open! We know you've missed kickball. We are here to help. Games will continue to be played on the Washington Monument Grounds on Sundays beginning at 2PM. The seven week plus playoffs season begins April 15 and should end on June 10 if there are no rain out dates. Should a rain out date occur it is the plan to extend the season to make up for the lost season. If that occurs, we promise the season will not extend beyond June 24. We'll not be playing on the rain-out date for the Kite Festival, Easter, Memorial Day, or in July. Isn't that nice?

Of course, when you register for kickball you are not just registering for a sport. We plan so many social events its silly. We'll definitely have the kickoff and end of season parties, but that's not all. You'll also have access to such great events like the April 28 DC United Tailgate and the June 2 DC Social Flip Cup Tournament. These events are all available to you for free or a reduced cost. Our social events are posted to DC Social Sports' Facebook Page. DC Social Kickball also has a Facebook Page. Like both those pages to ensure you are aware of all the social events! February 25 Beer Olympics, anyone? When we plan social events, we mean business. Just ask anyone that's been on the Booze Cruise. (And yes, that will be back too)

Early bird registration for this season is only $45! This fee includes 8 game guarantee (7 regular season games, plus at least one play-off game), all equipment, DC Social t-shirt (if registration before t-shirt deadline), and access to DC Social parties at no or reduced coverage charges. Registering early has its benefits. It lets us, your party planners, estimate our budget so we can plan the kick-ass parties you expect. It lets you get a shirt without having to pay a premium, and if you register after March 1 the fee jumps to $55!

We have a great season planned for you all. We hope you all will come back. We've missed you, and we hope you've missed us. Want to Occupy something but don't want to live in a smelly tent city? Then exercise your constitutional right to consume beer (bless you, 21st Amendment) and let beer occupy you. Join us for BMC3.

Beginning at 4:00pm, “We the People” will begin congregating “to form a more perfect union” at Ballston’s First Down Bar.

At 5:00pm, we head towards the Mall to demand our rights be restored. Because it is a long two blocks to our staging area, we will make a quick stop at Front Page to quench our thirst and rest our weary feet.

But, beginning at 6:00pm, we will descend on the Mall, returning to hallowed venues such as Chevy’s, Bailey's, Shiki Sushi (Sake Bombs!), and Rock Bottom Brewery; and then will end our March at Union Jack's, where we will occupy the dance floor.

Registration will be available soon. $20 gets you access to the kickoff keg, a limited-edition t-shirt, a coveted Sake Bomb, and access to drink specials just for our group.

Winter 2012 Season of DC Broomball Opens

Hello hockey fans,

If you're unfamiliar with the game, broomball brings the fun and excitement of street hockey to the ice rink. Players run on the ice and try to use a "broom" to put a ball into the opposing team's net. The action and rules are VERY similar to hockey, but the ice adds a whole extra element to the fun, allowing players to slide, glide and otherwise do things that would be impossible on the street.

Registration for the winter season of DC Broomball is currently open and accepting new players. There are two leagues, a "pro"-league (DC Broomball South) that runs out of Tucker Road Ice Rink, and a "beginner" league (DC Broomball North) that plays out of Rockville. The "pro" league sells out very quickly, so register soon if you're interested!

DC Broomball is a tight knit community of fun-loving, energetic, social and loyal broomball players. They love the game, are eager to teach it to new players and enjoy nothing better than broomball followed by a few beers. It's a great group of athletes to be around and learn from.
