Spring 2012 Flip Cup Invitational

This is what you've been training for all year - the spring flip cup tournament is just over one week away! On Saturday June 2nd teams of 6 +2 alternates will compete for flipcup glory in 4 seeding rounds and a single elimination tournament.... After the tournament a game of King of the Table will determine the best individual player.

This event will take place at McFaddens in Foggy Bottom. Check-in between 12:30-1:30 and the tournament will last from 2-6pm. Beer will continue to flow until the kegs are tapped. McFaddens is offereing $5 burgers and $3 rails during the tournament as well.

Players of a 2012 (Winter, Spring, or Summer) sport pay only $70 per team ($10 free agent). Guests can register for $140/team, $20/free agent. This event is sponsored by kickball so kickball teams get 16 free players!

YFALS Charity Cornhole

On June 23, the YFALS Campaign (http://yfals.als.net) will host its second annual DC Corntoss/Cornhole Challenge to raise money benefiting research for atreatment for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). The cornhole tournament runs from 2-6pm at +Balance Gym Kalorama (2200 California St NW, Washington, DC 20008) and isopen to teams of two players of any skill level.

All proceeds from donations and sponsorships from the event will go directly toward research for a treatment for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). A team registration fee of $20 will enter your team in thetournament, while teams that fundraise at least an additional $100 will receivea free t-shirt, food and beer for both players. Tournament winners take home aprofessional set of boards and bags. There is a $5 entry fee for people lookingto hang out at the event and not take part in the tournament. DC Social Sports Club has advanced screening tickets to see SAFE. The screening will be on Wednesday, April 25th at Regal Gallery Place Chinatown at 7:30pm. There are 50 admit one tickets (25 pairs) total for DC Social members and guests. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Haven't found a kickball league? Just moved to town? Need to new drinking crew? Looking to play ball? It's not too late. Come out tonight to Laughing Man Tavern and meet players from our Thursday night and Sunday afternoon programs.

DC SOCIAL (Formerly known as Chase) KICKBALLERS: Kickoff party TODAY starting at 9p. Registered kickballers get access to the kegs for only $5. Other DC Social Sports Members can get in for $10, and anyone else can get in for $15. We also will have $5 rails for those who can't do beer. This event is going to be awesome. Come out to Laughing Man Tavern and party til dawn (or 2am... whichever comes first).

DC Broomball Wins National Championship

DC Broomball is proud to bring back the title of National Champions for Men's Broomball (Class D). This year, DC Broomball sent two men's travel teams - the Nomads and the Legislators. Many thanks to Broomball Commissioner, Ryan Schradin, for continuing to build our broomball program through DC Social Sports Club. Additional thanks to Team Captains Sean Greeney and David Zarneke for leading the team in a 5-4 victory over Whiskey Sticks. If you want a shot at the national title, then began your broomball career with a local league.

DC Social Announces Drop-in Games

Beginning April 3, DC Social Sports Club is offering pickup basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball in the neighborhood. Their games are a good way to blow off some steam after work and get to know some new people. All you’ve got to do is drop-in at the National Cathedral's Proctor Gym (3112 36th St. NW) between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.

Tuesdays - Dodgeball & 3v3 Basketball (Tuesdays)
Wednesdays - 5v5 Basketball
Thursdays - Volleyball

New Safety Requirements by Insurance Provider

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

As a result of increased premiums and heightened insurance requirements, DC Social Sports Club is announcing mandatory policies regarding protective equipment for all sports. Starting Monday, April 2, 2012, all participants must wear the following items during all league-sanctioned activities: (1) mouth guard; (2) wrist pads; (3) elbow pads; and (4) knee pads. In addition, DC Social Sports Club encourages players to wear googles and gloves where physical contact may occur (e.g. flag football and basketball). Compliance will be enforced in all programs, including cornhole, skeeball, and flip cup. Participants who do not have the necessary equipment may not engage in league-sanctioned activities.
