CHASE Board Members
Capitol Hill Adult Schoolyard Entertainment (CHASE) Sports Group is seeking volunteer board members for the upcoming 2010 Fall season of the following sports:
- Arlington Dodgeball
- Arlington Softball
- Bethesda Dodgeball
- DC Beach Volleyball
- DC Shuffleboard
- Tysons Corner Dodgeball
Board members help plan parties and other social events. Duties vary from the competition committee, social committee, and media committee. Eligible board members receive a stipend from the social fund and complimentary registrations toward the next season.
Sports Referee
Capitol Hill Adult Schoolyard Entertainment (CHASE) Sports Group is hiring additional referees for 2010 season of the Arlington Athletic & Social League (AASL) and the upcoming Sport & Health League (SHL). Referees are needed for basketball, dodgeball, flag football, softball, and volleyball. Referees participate as independent contractors under the supervision of the AASL Head Referee. Referees help enforce AASL rules and regulations to ensure fair competition. CPR & First Aid certification and officiating experience preferred.
Job Requirements:
- Assist in set up and clean up of equipment and facility for assigned sport(s).
- Be knowledgeable of all AASL Sports officiating rules and playing guidelines for their assigned sport(s).
- Attend regularly scheduled AASL staff meetings and training.
- Assist with the development and implementation of all rules, regulations, and policies governing the AASL Sports program, and mediate conflicts and official protests in conjunctions with the AASL Competitions committee.
- Confirm proper number of males and females on the court/field at all times.
- Make fair and consistent calls.
- Be respectful and professional to participants and fellow staff.
- Pay attention to game at all times.
- Wear proper attire to all games – AASL Referee shirt, no jeans, sweats, or cutoffs.
- Keep track of game results and log game results onto the AASL league management system afterwards.
- Always come properly equipped – whistle, shoes, flags, etc.
- Control on field/court situations early.
Compensation:
- $12.50 to $20 per hour depending on experience and length of employment with CHASE.
This is a part-time position. Hours will vary depending on the season and the sport (approximately between 3 to 4 hours each competition day).
